Company

In December of 1964, AW & Billie Cole first opened the doors of Laco Shutter & Cabinet Shop. For years they served the Birmingham residential market with custom shutters and kitchen cabinetry. In 1970, with the new decade, along came some new opportunities in the Birmingham commercial market. Soon after incorporating in 1975, AW retired and handed over the day to day duties of managing the company to his sons, RW (Bob) and Bill Cole in 1976. By this time the product range had grown to include all aspects of millwork, commercial and residential, and serving a small portion of the southeast with their custom millwork needs. In the 1980's to reflect the evolution the company had endured, the name was changed to what is now known as Laco Woodworks, Inc. The industry and economy were kind to us here at Laco and allowed us to continue our growth and coverage range, requiring the 3rd relocation of the facilities to our present day location of Alabaster, AL. With this relocation, the new room provided us with yet again new opportunities and we began our first line of components along with the custom cabinetry and mouldings. By now we were catering mainly to the commercial and high end residential markets across the southeast. With the purchase of our first CNC machine and computerized beam saw, we took our production to an unprecedented level. After many years of learning and continued growth we now house three computerized beam saws, three edgebanders all with 3mm PVC capabilities, two point to point CNC machines, 2 nested based CNC routers, along with all of our conventional woodworking equipment in our 87,000 SF facility. With a great team of employees and a state of the art production floor, we have manufactured millwork in the southeast, mid-west, and southeastern markets. From design to installation, we can assist you with all aspects of custom millwork that your next project requires.
